Mental Performance & The Menstrual Cycle
Join our research & workshops to understand your performance throughout your menstrual cycle
Can you compete the same on your period?
Have you wondered how the menstrual cycle might influence your performance?
Have you ever considered how your performance could change throughout your cycle?
Have you been told “Oh you can’t compete as well on your period!”?
Maybe you’ve heard that the part of your cycle just before ovulation is the best for performance.
Let’s find out together!
Do you compete the same before your period?
For a long time, sport performance studies have been generalized for both men and women.
It is no surprise that differences in women physiology, including the menstrual cycle, might lead to a great need for tailored approaches in coaching, and in performance enhancement.
Oh, has this been overlooked! Few studies have focused on menstruating women in sport, and little do we know about performance and the menstrual cycle.
To make sure we change this reality, we’re on a quest to find out how your mental performance changes (or not!) throughout different phases of your menstrual cycle.
Specifically, we will be studying how your mental and emotional performance might change across your cycle.
We invite you to participate in the research study that we are launching from the German Sport University of Cologne.
What do you need to be part of this?
You are a menstruating woman between the age of 18 and 35
A sport-performer (not necessarily a high-level athlete!)
We do not want to compare your performance to others;
We want to capture your performance across YOUR cycle
To make this happen, this study will need your participation over 3 menstrual cycles. On a daily basis, you will receive a 5 minute survey to complete. Only on 6 days during this time, you will complete a performance experiments online.
What do I get for participating?
You will receive personalized results and recommendations on your mental performance based on the data you give us through your participation
You will be invited to a workshop led by a sport psychologist about mental performance and the menstrual cycle – including the results of this study!
You will directly contribute to breaking the stigma around the menstrual cycle and to the growth of our understanding of women’s bodies and performance
